Toombs Inc. was engaged by an Oil & Gas company at the beginning of a major downsizing to provide career transition support for a select group of employees.

One particular client was a person in their early 50s, with a highly specialized scientific skill set which is only in demand for specific Oil & Gas projects.

At the beginning of the career transition engagement, the client was only interested in receiving help with his resume, LinkedIn page, and some interview preparation. Upon creation, the client began his work search on his own.

Later he requested to reengage in his program as the work search had turned out to be more difficult than he expected.

The client worked with his Toombs Inc. consultant to discover the best-suited career approach, and ultimately decided on moving into consulting and creating his own business.

Initially the client was concerned with the magnitude of the financial investment required. However, after talking it through with his consultant he felt assured that this was the best course of action for him.

The Toombs Inc. consultant and client worked further to create a foundation and strategy for the business including; a business plan, marketing materials and processes.

Ultimately, the client was successful in securing contract work with several large energy companies allowing his company to flourish. The client continues to work as an independent consultant in a capacity where he feels he has much more autonomy than he did working as a full-time employee, and is financially more successful than he was working in a full-time role.
