Mark Toombs
PRESIDENT

Mark learned the power of career transformations at an early age. After 10 years as an associate actuary in the insurance industry, he made the leap to the career management industry.

After joining Toombs in 1995, Mark bought the business five years later and used his background in numbers along with his natural ability to connect with people to grow the company in his unique way. Mark nurtured this people-centric business, and he believes strongly that modern outplacement still needs to be guided by human interaction.

Through the years, Mark has brought thoughtful analysis and insight to others on their own career journeys. He has an eye for hiring talent – people who have the intuitive abilities and the experience to effectively support their clients’ HR teams and employees transitioning to new careers.

In his role as president, Mark works closely with the company’s management team, and with partners around the world.

Mark continues to value lifelong learning and with his love for people and numbers, it’s not surprising he’s taken up music as a hobby – exploring both math and art through the piano.

Also an avid runner in his off time, Mark enjoys the rhythm, the exercise and opportunities to give back through the sport. He coaches young athletes and is a director for a local 10K that raises funds for his community. Most of all, Mark is a family enthusiast. He and his wife Lori love to spend time in the wilds of Fernie with their two grown sons.

Toombs is celebrating 30 years of providing Career Management Services here in Alberta, and globally through online networks.

Since starting our first office in Calgary in 1990, and opening in Edmonton in 1992, we have seen significant growth and are solidly established in our local communities. We are also actively serving clients around the world through our Arbora Global Partners network.

Throughout the last three decades, we have had the privilege to collaborate with compassionate, smart and dedicated Human Resources professionals, while working with talented clients to gain traction with their career. We are proud of our longevity in this industry as we continue to innovate and thrive despite the ups and downs of Alberta’s economy.
